Description

Project description: Leveraging computational and AI approaches to interpret complex biological data and predict outcomes.

Keywords: AI-based prediction, disease progression, treatment response, biomedical data.

Research Area: LIF

Supervisors: David Posada; Diana Valverde.

CINBIO will provide researcher with high quality supervision arrangements, while adhering the principles of the MSCA Guidelines on Supervision. For the development of this Project the candidate will be supported by:

David Posada (M): dposada@uvigo.es, Phylogenomics Research Group. ERCStarting and Consolidator grants (2008 and 2014). 2 patents. 12 PhD supervised (5 ongoing).

Diana Valverde (F): dianaval@uvigo.es, Rare Diseases Research Group. South Galicia Health Research Institute (IISGS) scientific committee member. Assistant director CINBIO. 3 patents. 14 PhD supervised (2 ongoing).

Do not hesitate to contact with PIs for further information or to explore your ideas alignment with research groups interests.

Host institution: CINBIO (Universidade de Vigo)

CINBIO is a public multidisciplinary research centre, under the umbrella of Universidade de Vigo (UVigo), which focuses on developing groundbreaking research in two main areas: Nanomaterials and Biomedicine. CINBIO was created in 2009 and hosts more than 170 staff members distributed in 15 different research groups that clusters chemists, physicists, biologists, and material scientists with extensive experience in research and training activities.

Candidate will have full access to CINBIO research infrastructure, with more than 30 fully equipped labs to perform experiments and computational analysis adapted to the needs of each group and research area, common labs containing general and more sophisticated equipment for specific techniques, including a Bioexperimentation Unit (bioexperimentation SPF and ANCB-2), a Characterization Unit (nanobiomaterials, microscopy, flow cytometry and molecular biology) and a Sample Preparation Unit (histology and cellular culture, NCB-3 lab). Additional access to consolidated infrastructures and services, e.g., Bioexperimentation Service, CACTI, Biobank at Alvaro Cunqueiro hospital, and other hospitals in the region of Galicia (e.g., Ourense and Pontevedra hospitals).

Particularly Phylogenomics and Rare Diseases research group counts with laboratories fully equipped for HPC clusters.

Additionally, CINBIO provides researchers with an excellent training environment that enhances both scientific and professional development. Fellows will have access to a broad and well-established portfolio of scientific training activities, including advanced courses, workshops, seminars, conferences and schools aligned with CINBIO’s research areas, as well as hands-on training in key techniques such as biosecurity practices, animal experimentation and cytometry through the centre’s core facilities. This will be complemented by continuous exposure to high-level scientific exchange via regular lectures by internationally recognised scientists, interdisciplinary seminars and internal research events that foster collaboration and knowledge sharing. In parallel, researchers at CINBIO benefit from a wide range of transferable skills training opportunities designed to strengthen career-relevant competences for academic, industrial or public-sector pathways, ensuring a well-rounded and competitive postdoctoral training experience.

Elegibilit&admissibility:

The MARIE SKŁODOWSKA-CURIE POSTDOCTORAL FELLOWSHIPS (HORIZON-MSCA-2026-PF-01open from 09/04/2026 to 09/09/2026) are available for experienced researchers, of any nationality, who must have, at the date of the call’s deadline, a doctoral degree or at least four years of full-time equivalent research experience. Eligible candidates must comply with MSCA MOBILITY RULES and have a maximum of eight years experience in research, from the date of the PhD awarding.

Additional requirements:

  • Excellent academic record, and strong interest in research, to join an established center with multiple lines of biomedical research, that will sure suit your curiosity.
  • Highest motivation to carry out scientific experiments in a reliable and efficient way, excellent communication skills; and willing to advance on their research pursuit.
  • Focus on the daily work, proactive, attentive to detail, autonomous, and able to collaborate in the lab tasks.
  • Participation on dissemination activities.
  • Command of English language.

Candidates should send their expressions of interests before deadline 30.06.2026 to cinbio.eup@uvigo.es, including their CV with academic record, a summary of the research proposal and a motivation letter.

Support:

From CINBIO we can support you on the MSCA-PF application, so do not hesitate to contact if you are interested in applying for the call to work with us (cinbio.eup@uvigo.es).

Additional support will be found at UVigo International Projects Office (opi.promo@uvigo.gal).

CINBIO and UVigo also provide a supportive and welcoming environment for researchers, offering extensive resources that promote career development, equality and work–life balance. Its EURAXESS Centre functions as an international welcome and assistance service for incoming and outgoing researchers at any stage, providing guidance on mobility procedures, administrative formalities and research‑career development, and can be contacted at welcome.researchers@uvigo.gal. The university implements comprehensive equality and conciliation measures through its Equality Unit and the III Gender Equality Plan (2020–2024), which aims to ensure dignity, inclusion and equal opportunities across the community, in line with the Agenda 2030 principles. CINBIO also offers practical measures to support work–life balance, such as detailed guides on staff rights regarding conciliation and dedicated lactation rooms available across its campuses, including in the CINBIO building on the Vigo campus. These institutional policies and services reflect a strong commitment to creating a humane, inclusive and supportive research environment.
