A post-doctoral position with scholarship from the São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP) is available at the São Carlos Institute of Physics of University of São Paulo (USP), to join a multidisciplinary team of investigators in Medicinal Chemistry and Drug Design.

The post-doctoral researcher will be responsible for the design and conduction of (1) primary parasitology assays (in vitro phenotypic screening cascade versus Trypanosoma cruzi and Leishmania), and (2) ADME assays (e.g. lipophilicity, permeability, microsomal stability, and others). The initiative also aims to study the mechanism of action (MoA) through target deconvolution for the active identified hits.

This is a Thematic Project entitled “Converting natural product leads into structure- and ligand-based drug discovery campaigns against leishmaniasis and Chagas' disease” (Grant number FAPESP 2018/14268-9), derived from an agreement between FAPESP and the Medical Research Council of the UK (MRC/UKRI), with support from the Newton Fund.

Pre-requirements

The post-doctoral researcher must have experience in conducting in vitro assays with kinetoplastids and/or in vitro / in vivo metabolism / pharmacokinetics. The project will be conducted in partnership with the Drug Discovery Unit of the University of Dundee (http://www.drugdiscovery.dundee.ac.uk/home) focused on the discovery and optimization of new chemical entities for the treatment of Leishmaniasis and Chagas' disease.

Candidates must have obtained their PhD degree within the last 7 (seven) years and show fluency in English and willingness to work within interdisciplinary teams.

Submissions

The registration period ends on May 23, 2019. Applications can be submitted only by e-mail.
