OFFER DESCRIPTION

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA OF THE COMPETITION:

- PhD degree (not awarded by Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin) in the discipline of physical sciences obtained not earlier than 7 years before the year of employment in the project (this period does not include breaks related to maternity leave, leave on the terms of maternity leave, paternity leave, parental leave or parental leave granted in accordance with the provisions of the Labour Code and the period of receiving sickness allowance or rehabilitation benefit due to incapacity for work, including those caused by a disease that requires medical rehabilitation; for women, the indicated seven-year period may be extended by 18 months for each child born or adopted; a woman may choose a more favourable way of indicating breaks in her research career);

- outstanding scientific achievements and experience in acquiring and managing or implementing research projects;

- a proven record of scientific achievements in the field of surface and nanostructures physics, in particular the magnetism of nanostructures;

- a proven record of organizational achievements (management or implementation of research projects);

- knowledge of experimental methods in the study of surfaces and nanostructures:

  1. the ability to produce nanostructures on crystalline surfaces under UHV conditions;
  2. knowledge of the LEED and/or RHEED diffraction methods, the ability to carry out LEED and/or RHEED diffraction measurements in UHV conditions and to interpret the measurement results;
  3. knowledge of SPLEEM / LEEM / PEEM microscopy or other electron microscopy methods preferred;

- experience in writing and publishing scientific articles in international journals in the field of nanostructure and surface physics;

- very good command of/ fluency in English;

- ability to present research results;

- high motivation to conduct scientific research, communication skills and the ability to work in a team

 

APPLICATION FOR THE COMPETITION SHOULD INCLUDE:

- an application requesting employment addressed to the Rector of UMCS;

- a copy or a certified copy of the doctoral diploma, or a resolution or another document confirming the award of the doctoral degree;

- a personal questionnaire and curriculum vitae or CV;

- a list of scientific publications;

- a list of scientific and organizational achievements;

- a candidate's declaration that UMCS will be their primary workplace in the case of employment;

- an opinion of a person with the academic title of professor or the academic degree of habilitated doctor on scientific achievements in the discipline of physical sciences;

-a declaration of compliance with the requirements specified in the Act on Higher Education and Science of July 20, 2018 (Journal of Laws of 2020, item 85);

- a candidate's declaration that they agree to the processing of personal data in accordance with Article 6 Paragraph 1 Letter a) of Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016 on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data, and repealing Directive 95/46/EC (General Data Protection Regulation).
